I grew up in New Orleans, then after getting out of the marines, I went to California to get into the movie business. That's when I changed my name from Ray Canatella to Ray Cantrell.  I became an actor and was in seven movies. Later I had an opportunity to write a movie called "The Zodiac Killer", which I sold.  I continued to write movies and segments for TV shows. While I was making money, I went back to college and studied psychology.  I then went to work at Alpha Motivation Institute and began helping people to quit smoking.

After fifteen years in Hollywood, I moved back to New Orleans.  Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina caused me to lose everything I own.  I then changed my name back to Ray Canatella and began writing books.  My first book will be piublished soon.  It's a comedy/western called "Saved by the Devil's Ring", which should be coming out soon.
